Kamu Grugier-Hill will greatly improve Eagles’ pass defense in his return aginst the Packers

Kamu Grugier-Hill was having his best training camp and preseason as a member of the Eagles when he suffered a knee injury that cost him the first three weeks of the season. The talented linebacker will return against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, and it couldn’t come at a better time for the Eagles much-maligned pass defense.

“I’m happy to finally be worked in,” said Grugier-Hill via NJ.com, a 10-game starter last season. “I know I’m not going to be out there and play the whole game, but the times that I do get, I’m going to try to get back in the swing of things.”

A three-down linebacker, Grugier-Hill excels against the pass and even Doug Pederson chimed in on the energy that he brings when inserted into the lineup.

“One, he brings a lot of energy to the defense,” Pederson said Wednesday. “He’s a very energetic and excitable guy … We know he’s a great special teams player. He gives us a little bit of a boost there.”

Doug Pederson has stated that he’ll ease Grugier-Hill back into action, but the quicker he can become a mainstay on passing downs, the quicker the Eagles can improve as a pass defense.   Brown is a tackling machine and has played well in place of Grugier-Hill. Brown’s penchant for being an astute tackler, means Nigel Bradham could see his role decrease once Grugier-Hill is back at full strength.
