Kamil Glik’s wife has been subjected to online abuse as trolls target her following England’s ill-tempered clash with Poland earlier this week.
Marta has posted a string of sickening screenshots, with users sending death threats, both to her and the rest of the Glik family.
It comes after FIFA opened an investigation into allegations Kamil made a racist remark or gesture to Kyle Walker during the 1-1 draw with Warsaw.
Glik has strenuously denied any wrongdoing after the two teams were involved in an ugly brawl shortly after the half-time whistle.
The Poland defender, along with England’s Harry Maguire were booked in the aftermath of the fracas.
Subsequently, it has emerged that Football Association officials Emily Webb and security officer Tony Conniford made accusations to fourth official Daniel Schlager at half time during the game in Warsaw.
Poland team manager Jakyb Kwiatkowski has said the Polish FA will cooperate with the investigation, whilst strongly denying any wrongdoing.
Kwiatkowsk told Mirror Sport: “The English FA said there had been a racist remark made but Glik says that is completely not true. I know the players and they have not done that and nor would they. We completely deny any allegations of wrongdoing.”
Glik himself said of the incident: “There was some scuffle, later I wanted to shake Walker's hand but he didn't accept it. There was some verbal scuffle but nothing more happened there.”
The English FA have declined to comment but confirmed they will be taking witness statements and the allegations have prompted FIFA to get involved and launch an investigation.
FIFA have subsequently issued a statement which reads: “FIFA is in the process of analysing the official match reports of the FIFA World Cup qualifier match between Poland and England.
“The relevant information will be assessed by the competent disciplinary bodies in order to decide on next steps.”
However, trolls have now targeted the international’s wife on social media, with Marta sharing several messages on her Instagram story. She accompanied the screenshots with the caption “Stop Hate”.
