Kamika Ekadashi Significance

Kamika Ekadashi holds great spiritual importance in Hindu tradition and is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. Observing this fast during the holy month of Sawan is believed to bring immense merit and divine blessings.

Kamika Ekadashi Puja Method

Observing the Kamika Ekadashi vrat is considered highly auspicious and is performed with devotion to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu. Here’s a simple step-by-step puja method devotees can follow:

1. Early Morning Preparation

Wake up early during Brahma Muhurta, take a bath, and wear clean or traditional clothes. Clean the pujs space and prepare for the rituals.

2. Sankalp

Take a vow to observe the fast with sincerity and devotion. Mentally dedicate the vrat to Lord Vishnu and pray for strength to complete it.

3. Setting Up the Altar

Place an idol or image of Lord Vishnu. Decorate the space with flowers, lamp, incense sticks, and a clean cloth.

4. Offerings to Lord Vishnu

Offer Tulsi leaves, fruits, sweets, and flowers. Tulsi is especially important and should be included in the puja.

5. Chanting and Prayers

Recite Vishnu mantras like “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” or Vishnu Sahasranama. Reading or listening to the Kamika Ekadashi vrat katha is also recommended.

6. Fasting Rules

Devotees usually observe a strict fast (nirjala) or consume only fruits and milk. Avoid grains, rice, and non-vegetarian food.

7. Evening Aarti

Perform aarti in the evening with devotion, offer prasad, and seek blessings for peace and prosperity.

8. Breaking the Fast (Parana)

The fast is broken the next day (Dwadashi) during the prescribed time after offering prayers to Lord Vishnu
