Thai League 1 strugglers Ubon UMT United yesterday appointed Japanese Sugao Kambe as their new coach.
He replaces Mixu Paatelainen of Finland who quit after a string of poor results.
Paatelainen is the 11th coach in the top flight to be sacked or resign this season.
Ubon are currently 17th in Thai League 1 with seven points from 11 games. They are now one of the favourites to go down to Thai League 2 with five clubs of the 18-team top league to be relegated.
A former assistant coach of Japanese side Nagoya Grampus Eight, Kambe, 56, coached Thai League 1 team Nakhon Ratchasima from 2013-2016.
Kambe said: "Ubon UMT have the potential in many aspects. I hope my arrival will be able to help them improve.
"They are now under pressure. But I have been in a similar situation before and I hope I can help them avoid relegation."
Kambe will begin his work at Ubon UMT tomorrow when the Eagles travel to Pattaya United.
Founded in 2015, Ubon UMT are in their second season in the top flight.
The other coaches who have quit or been fired include Christian Ziege (Ratchaburi), Totchtawan Sripan(Muang Thong), Joseph Ferre (Bangkok Glass), Scott Cooper (Police Tero) and Sasom Pobprasert (Air Force).
