A Kambah man is behind bars after a tip-off from United States authorities led to him being charged with child exploitation offences.
Chris Cox appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday morning and did not apply for bail or enter pleas.
In a statement, ACT Policing said officers started investigating the 47-year-old after the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation passed on a tip from the US.
Police searched Cox's home on Thursday and seized a number of electronic devices.
Cox has been charged with possession of child exploitation material and possession of child abuse material accessed via a carriage service.
He will appear in court again at a later date.
Police urged members of the public with information about child abuse to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or make a report using the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
