In just a number of weeks, Ella Emhoff, Kamala Harris' stepdaughter, has gone from a student to a serious budding designer to watch. Emhoff is set to launch a new line with Batsheva Hay.

Hay, known for her unique dresses with voluminous sleeves, designed Emhoff's burgundy Inauguration Day dress, which she wore under her self-designed Miu Miu coat as President Joe Biden and her stepmother Vice President Harris were sworn into office on 20 January.

After much positive attention following the event, Emhoff was signed by IMG Models, featured in New York Fashion Week as a runway model for Proenza Schouler and appeared on the cover of biannual fashion magazine Dust, now she's teaming up with Hay to create a knitwear line.

Emhoff said she'd been an admirer of Hay's work "for a really long time," during her announcement on Good Morning Vogue.

"So many of her designs are so cohesive to my personal wants and needs," continued 21-year-old design senior at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Details of the capsule have not be revealed yet, however, Emhoff did explain to Good Morning Vogue that she hopes to create a knit granny-square patterned bag as part of the collection.

Emhoff has previously made vibrant knit trousers, bucket hats, a bikini bra, a granny square house coat and knit biker shorts. She recently dropped five knitted one of a kind pieces on the online platform Mall, for upcoming designers, including two vests, a pair of shorts, a greet bag with Tweety Bird design knitted into it. All of the items sold out in a day.

"I have to be honest, I was not expecting this," Emhoff said to Good Morning Vogue on all the recent attention. "I think life really did a 180."

A release date for the Ella Emhoff and Batsheva colab is yet to be announced.
