The Seattle Seahawks received a boost on Wednesday after a 0-2 start to the season, with the news that their star safety Kam Chancellor will end his contract holdout and return to the team.
Chancellor had missed pre-season and Seattle’s first two games of the season – defeats to the Rams and Packers – in the hope of receiving a restructured contract. But he texted ESPN’s Stephen A Smith to confirm that he would return to help the NFC champions improve on their poor start to the season.
“Ima go help my teammates that are understanding of my position and the ones who aren’t,” Chancellor told Smith in the text. “God forgives all, why can’t i? Time to help us get back to the big dance. I can address business after the season. Me and Marshawn started a mission 2 years ago. I can’t let my Dawg down....Real talk.”
There is no sense of panic in Seattle yet – the defeat to the Rams came in overtime, and the Packers are one of the best teams in the league – but they have given up a number of big pass plays in their two games so far. Chancellor, who has been a Pro Bowler for three of the last four seasons, will be a welcome returnee as his team attempt to make the Super Bowl once again.
