LUCKNOW: A resident of Kalyanpur, Malik Hammad Faisal made the city proud by figuring in the top 100 rankers of the country in the JEE (Advanced), the results of which were declared on Friday.
Bagging the 87th rank, Malik wants to study BTech in Computer Science from IIT-Delhi. Another engineering aspirant, Shreya Tiwari, AIR 279 also made the city proud by being the female topper of the IIT Kanpur zone that includes 12 aspirants of around a dozen cities from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
It was a fixed time table and NCERT books that made Malik excel in JEE (Advanced). “I believe that one who makes a time table to study and follows it religiously can achieve any goal. After completing my class X from the City Montessori School with 97.6%, I moved to Kota and joined a coaching institute for preparation and stayed focused on my goal.” A number of JEE (Advanced) high scorers of the city whom TOI spoke to dream to make their career in advanced computing by pursuing computer science engineering from any of the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) in the country.
Bagging 279 All India Rank (AIR) Shreya Tiwari said, “My dream is to pursue computer science engineering from IIT-Bombay. My future career plans will be dependent on what interests me the most in my academic journey in these four years.”
She said concepts like artificial intelligence in computer sciences is something I am very keen to learn and I may take a career in the same. Daughter of joint director, secondary education department, SK Tiwari and joint director Shantwna Tiwarim, Shreya believes that every candidate preparing for JEE (Advanced) should stay positive and should not panic if their friends are ahead of them in preparation or mock test scores. One should take one’s own time to learn concepts”, she added.
Another high ranker Teerath Agarwal who bagged an AIR 482 also had similar plans. “I want to pursue computer science engineering from a top IIT. Concepts like machine learning, artificial intelligence and deep learning interest me a lot. I dream to set up my own startup one day.” He said a flexible timetable for JEE makes preparation easy and less stressful. I didn’t study for fixed hours, at times it was eight hours in a row while other times it was 4-5 hours with breaks to keep myself focused.
“I want to do something new in computer science, be it new technology, software, or in the field of research. My dream is to study at IITBombay. I want to make my career in research,” said Ravija Chandel who bagged AIR 743. Similar thoughts and dreams were shared by Ayushman Pandey who bagged AIR 748.
