Kalyan: RTO staffer beaten up after he stopped agent from spitting in office premises

KALYAN: A Road Transport Office (RTO) employee had to face the ire of an agent for stopping him from spitting in the Kalyan office premises in Maharashra's Thane district on Wednesday.

RTO agent Machindra Kene, who is a relative of a Shiv Sena leader, and his four-to-five unidentified associates thrashed Manish Jadhav on Tuesday evening when the latter asked him not to spit in the office premises.

The local Khadakpada police filed a non-cognizable offence against Kene and four to five others under sections 323, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal code.

Meanwhile, the RTO employees on Wednesday accused police of filing only NC under a Shiv Sena leader's pressure and protested against police inaction by holding a pen-down protest.

The RTO employees demanded police file an FIR against all those responsible for obstructing government servants and arrest all accused who assaulted Jadhav.
