Kalvin Phillips shows his class in rare break from Marcelo Bielsa's gruelling pre-season regime

We've all heard the stories of just how gruellling a Marcelo Bielsa pre-season is.

Last summer Leeds United players were subjected to long days, lots of running, triple sessions, analytical video work and even litter picking as the Whites' head coach took the first steps in his Elland Road masterplan.

The majority of the Leeds squad returned to Thorp Arch on Monday knowing what to expect and after being put through their paces by Bielsa's staff for five days, were given some time away from the training ground on Saturday.

You might expect the Leeds players to use the opportunity to put their feet up and relax after an intense first week back or enjoy some of the belated sunshine in the city, but for Kalvin Phillips it was a chance to make a young football team's day.

The Leeds United academy product was present at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon as he attended Beeston Juniors FC's end-of-season presentation day, surprising the young hopefuls and stopping for photographs and autographs with the players, their families and passing by fans.

Earlier in the year Phillips also took time out to appear on a TV programme to give VIP tickets to a Leeds United-supporting family who's young daughter was suffering from a severe genetic kidney disease in another act of his generosity.

It will be back to Thorp Arch this week for Phillips, as Leeds set their sights on their first pre-season friendly of the summer at York City on July 10.
