Kalvin Phillips was delighted for team-mate Raphinha after his first goal for Leeds United sealed victory over Everton.
The Brazilian winger opened his Leeds account with a well-taken 79th-minute winner in Saturday's Premier League clash at Goodison Park.
The summer signing from Rennes fired past Jordan Pickford from the edge of the area as Marcelo Biesla's men claimed a 1-0 win.
Raphinha earned praise for his overall performance but it was midfielder Phillips who picked up the man of the match award.
"It’s a special moment for Rapha," Phillips told Sky Sports. "We’ve been telling him he’s going to score a goal whenever he gets the chance.
"He’s come close the last few weeks but he finally got one today.
“He’s very good. He’s got everything and to come into the side shortly after being signed, he’s done excellent.
"That goes down to us integrating him in the squad and he’s working hard."
Phillips added: "Obviously, we started well, got on the front foot and were creating chances.
"We knew eventually it would come, we just had to defend well."
Asked if this was Leeds' best win since returning to the top flight, Phillips replied: “I don’t know, you could say that, but we’re just happy we’ve come out on the pitch and gave it our all."
Phillips played down his own display, saying: “Obviously I’m pleased when we win, but it’s all about the team. If the team don’t play well, I don’t play well.
"It comes down to individual efforts and collectively as a team. The manager is on about that every week. We work hard as a team."
England boss Gareth Southgate was watching from the stands.
“That’s nice - and I put in a good performance," Phillips said. "I’ll keep working hard and keep playing like I did tonight and keep progressing.”
