Kalvin Phillips's and Kemar Roofe's deals will not be far away - Leeds United pundit

Leeds United are likely to be closing in on sealing new deals for both Kemar Roofe and Kalvin Phillips, claims former Whites veteran Danny Mills.

The pair have both been linked with moves away from Elland Road during the summer, following superb seasons under Marcelo Bielsa which saw them help drive the club within touching distance of promotion to the Premier League.

As integral cogs to Leeds' hopes of sealing a long-awaited return to the top flight under the Argentine at the second time of asking, fans have been vocal in their desire to see the duo remain on the books.

Now, ex-right-back Mills, who played for the Whites during their halcyon days between 1999 and 2003, picking up multiple England caps during his tenure, believes the club are closing in on deals for their two stars.

Speaking to Football Insider , the 41-year-old pointed to comments made by Victor Orta to LeedsLive during United's tour of Australia, where he indicated his absolute confidence in the club securing the futures of both players.

“You start to look very, very silly and a little bit stupid if they suddenly don’t come off,” Mills commented.

“He doesn’t come out and speak that often so I would assume they can’t be that far away. Roofe, one outstanding season, a very similiar situation to Kalvin Phillips.

“Give him an extension, bump his wages with certain caveats. If you perform well you’re rewarded, if not you stay where you are. It’s sensible.”

Leeds play their final pre-season friendlies this weekend, with the first team in Cagliari in Sardinia and a second side facing Girona in Manchester.
