Kalvin Phillips provides an injury update

Kalvin Phillips has eased concerns his injury will keep him out Leeds United’s starting line-up for a prolonged period with a message to Ian Wright.

The Match of the Day pundit has become something of a cheerleader for the Whites this term after his Arsenal protege Eddie Nketiah spent the first half of the season on loan at Elland Road.

There have since been admissions United legend Allan Clarke was the inspiration behind the number eight shirt Wright wore with such distinction at Highbury.

Sending his best wishes to Phillips on Instagram in light of the injury news, the Leeds midfielder replied with an update many fans will be pleased to see.

“Hope it’s not too serious KP,” posted Wright.

Phillips replied: “All good Wrighty just a dead calf thanks mate.”

The 24-year-old was well enough to walk the perimeter of Elland Road’s pitch at full-time on Saturday and take the congratulations of the crowd.

Phillips had originally gone off in the 38th minute after failing to recover from a heavy tackle he put in on Reading’s Omar Richards.
