Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has poured cold water on January transfer speculation, insisting he is happy at Elland Road and wants to sign an extension with the Whites.
The 26-year-old has come to the fore as an important player for Marcelo Bielsa's side and saw his reputation skyrocket during the European Championship as Gareth Southgate's side reached the final at Wembley.
Phillips has become of interest to many clubs around England and Europe, with Manchester United reported to be one of the interested parties.
The Reds' search for midfield reinforcements is no secret with Declan Rice and, more recently, Amadou Haidara touted as additions.
Paul Pogba looks set to leave Old Trafford in the summer when his contract expires.
But it looks unlikely that Phillips would be his replacement at United. The in-demand Leeds-man has spoken out about his future amid suitors vying for his signature.
"Going from Championship to Premier League to England Player of the Year, it was an eye-opener and made me realise, 'I can do this,'" he told the Daily Mail.
"Everything came together, the hard work taking me where I wanted to be. If I carry on doing that, who knows where I’ll end up.
"I just want to focus on getting back fit,’ he says. ‘But I speak to the owner regularly. I want a new contract. I’m very happy here."
