Kalvin Phillips makes admission over Leeds United free-kick goal in Blackburn Rovers win

Kalvin Phillips has admitted he has kept Leeds United waiting all season for an inch-perfect free-kick.

Phillips scored with a superb free-kick on Saturday to help Leeds see off Blackburn Rovers, Marcelo Bielsa's men edging closer to the finish line in their race for promotion.

After the game, Leeds teammate Barry Douglas took to Instagram to post a picture of he and Phillips lining up the free-kick with a witty caption.

Douglas wrote: "Me: You see where the 2 white poles meet just next to that will do. @kalvinphillips: hold my beer."

Phillips responded to the post, saying: "Only taken me all season."

But Douglas made a very good point in his reply. He said: "No time like the present my boy."

Leeds fans will certainly agree with that with the goal proving important, as every goal will be between now and the end of the season.

Bielsa's men are one point clear of West Brom at the top of the Championship table and six ahead of in-form Brentford in third.

There are just five games remaining in the campaign with Leeds next in action against strugglers Stoke City on Thursday.
