Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has made a vow to England fans that he and the rest of the Three Lions squad will give it everything in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday.
Phillips and his teammates will be going head-to-head with Italy at Wembley as England search for their first major trophy since the World Cup triumph in 1966.
The 25-year-old has started every game at this summer’s tournament and has formed an excellent partnership alongside West Ham United’s Declan Rice in the centre of midfield which has played a huge role in England’s superb defensive record.
Gareth Southgate’s side have conceded just one goal in their six matches in the competition so far and became the first nation to keep five clean sheets in the first five games of a European Championship.
The Azzurri, though, are set to provide England, and particularly Phillips and Rice, with their toughest test yet.
Marco Verratti, Jorginho and Nicolo Barella have earned several plaudits for their displays throughout the tournament and England’s young midfield duo will have a big task on their hands to stop Roberto Mancini’s side from taking control.
With 60,000 fans set to flock to Wembley once again, though, Phillips delivered a message to his Twitter account thanking everyone for their support and pledged to give 100% to ensure football comes home once again.
He said: “Thanks everyone for your phenomenal support so far. It’s an honour to represent this country and we will give it our all to bring it home.”
