Kalvin Phillips has issued an update on the shoulder injury that has ruled him out for up to six weeks, stating he was 'lucky' to avoid surgery as he starts work on his recovery.
The Leeds United and England midfielder suffered the injury during his side's 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday evening, with the club confirming on Tuesday that he faces a spell on the sidelines.
Phillips took to his social media channels on Tuesday evening to react to the news and confirm that his rehabilitation process is already underway.
"Tough one to take but proud of our performance as a team," he posted on Twitter and Instagram. "We dust ourselves down and go again. Unfortunately during last night's match I suffered a shoulder injury which will leave me out for a few weeks.
"Luckily I won’t be needing surgery and have already started my rehab so looking forward to getting back on the pitch as soon as possible."
A host of Phillips' Leeds teammates reacted to the posts.
"Little setback be back stronger brother," replied Luke Ayling, with Tyler Roberts, Leif Davis and Oliver Casey just some of his team-mates who also sent messages of support.
Former Leeds United and England defender Rio Ferdinand also replied to the post, urging Phillips to "Stay on it bro."
A six-week lay-off would see Phillips out of action until early December, meaning he could miss as many as six matches for Bielsa's side, who sit tenth in the Premier League table following two wins, two defeats and a draw from their first five matches since their return to the top flight.
