Kalvin Phillips injury update from Leeds United ahead of England Euro 2020 squad selection

Leeds United are confident Kalvin Phillips will be available for Euro 2020 if selected by England despite yesterday’s shoulder injury.

The 25-year-old flew into a tackle on Grady Diangana in the dying moments of Sunday's Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion in front of the Jack Charlton Stand.

Despite the match being won and the season finished with possibly Phillips's first international tournament on the horizon, the midfielder did not hold back with the tackle.

While Phillips initially smiled after the tackle, it soon became clear he had suffered a serious injury as three members of the medical staff tended to him before carefully walking him from the field after full-time.

A club statement read: “Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips picked up a shoulder injury in the closing stages of Sunday’s Premier League fixture with West Bromwich Albion.

“This is currently being treated conservatively, however, we remain confident he will be available for Euro 2020, if selected for the England squad.”

Gareth Southgate names his England squad in the coming days with Phillips previously considered a near certainty for selection.
