Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has discussed Marcelo Bielsa's 'crazy' training sessions, stating the squad is "probably the fittest in the league".
The Argentine boss has significantly improved Leeds' fortunes since arriving at Elland Road, with the club in the driving seat for promotion to the Premier League before the current suspension.
A big part of Bielsa's game is the work ethic he demands from his squad, which has led to some criticisms due to fears of a burnout within the squad.
However, it has proven to be an effective tactic with the Whites able to blow away their rivals in the league to keep the promotion dream alive, and Phillips has spoken about Bielsa's demands.
"We’re probably the fittest team in the league – that’s important to him.
"He’s on our case all the time, checking weight and conditioning, and demanding we always give absolutely everything in training," he told FourFourTwo.
"Honestly, if someone from outside came in and saw what he had us doing for pre-season, they’d think he was crazy. But we’re in a strong position because of it.
"Leeds brought him in to coach the club, but he has had a big effect on the whole city. He wants to do Leeds proud."
The pressure is rising in the push for promotion and, when the suspension of football fixtures ends, it will have likely hit new levels as fans anticipate their football fix.
Being a Leeds fan, Phillips also admitted that the lure of promotion means more of an achievement as he looks to help bring Premier League football back to Elland Road.
"My family are all huge Leeds fans," Phillips added. "I used to sit in the stands when I was nine or 10, so helping the club get back to where it belongs is very important to me."
