Kalvin Phillips will snub Manchester United and sign a new Leeds deal with Marcelo Bielsa claiming he would never trash his strong bond with the fans.
Phillips is happy at his beloved Leeds and is prepared to agree new terms and commit his long-term future to the club.
The England midfielder’s current deal runs until 2024 and talks over a new agreement to make him the club’s best-paid player will begin imminently.
Phillips’ stance will disappoint United and they had earmarked him as a potential summer signing.
But Leeds’ fierce rivals had little chance of signing Phillips after Bielsa said he would never agree to a transfer that endangered his love affair with his hometown club.

“When Phillips stops playing for Leeds in the moment and way he does it, will convert him into an idol forever,” said the Leeds boss. “I have this feeling and intuition.
“Due to the family that he has, and how he’s managed his decisions since I’ve known him, I’m sure the way he leaves Leeds and the way he does it, of course it’s going to generate disappointment, but it will solidify his link to the club, the people and the city because I’m sure he would only leave if he sees that it’s guaranteed that the link to the place where he was born remains intact.”
Bielsa claims Phillips’ bond with Leeds is very rare and says he is content at Elland Road because he is so loved by the supporters.
“I have seen in him a conduct that I have very rarely seen in a player in how football is right now,” he said.
“For a player to climb to the level he is at, due to the love of the club he’s at, is not frequent.
“I have a certainty that Kalvin is going to enjoy for the rest of his life, the decisions he’s going to make.
“He will be loved definitively for always in the place where he was born and where he belongs.
“When you go for the money or for the evolution, you resolve a moment in your sporting career.
“But when you opt for the affection of your people, you resolve your life forever because when you’re loved when you’re from, the possibilities to be happy increase.”
