Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega start in Man City starting XI fans want to see vs Bristol City

Manchester City fans want to see several second-string players given a chance to impress against Bristol City, including Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega.

City will bring their five-match run of long away trips to an end on Tuesday with a trek to take on Bristol City in the fifth round of the FA Cup. With the Robins down in midtable in the Championship, the match gives Pep Guardiola the welcomed opportunity to rotate his side and rest key players.

Fans want the first change to come in goal with Ederson making way for back-up Stefan Ortega. Some City supporters have been critical of the Brazilian's performances in recent weeks after developing a tendency to concede the first shot he faces and seeing his save percentage plummet. Many supporters believe Ortega deserves a chance in the team after his impressive displays since signing for the club.

Sergio Gomez was also signed in the summer but has had a much more difficult start to life at the Etihad. The Spaniard has struggled when starting at left-back and his late introduction against Bournemouth was his first appearance in the Premier League since August.

Supporters want to see Gomez given another opportunity, with Rico Lewis on the other flank accompanied by a centre-back pairing of Manuel Akanji and Aymeric Laporte. The Spain international has missed the last two matches with illness but wasn't ruled out by Guardiola.

Kevin De Bruyne has also been battling a bug and was an unused substitute against the Cherries. Tuesday's game is seen as a good chance to get him back up to speed. Fans have named Bernardo Silva and Phillips as his partners, which would see the former Leeds man start for just the second time after dealing with injury and the undroppable Rodri since signing.

Fans want Erling Haaland to be rested and Julian Alvarez to lead the line, with Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden manning the flanks.

City starting XI fans want to see vs Bristol City: Ortega; Lewis, Akanji, Laporte, Gomez; De Bruyne, Phillips, Bernardo; Mahrez, Alvarez, Foden.
