Kalvin Phillips agent makes Leeds future admission amid Liverpool transfer rumours

Kalvin Phillips has ‘no desire’ to leave Leeds United despite the growing interest in the midfielder’s performances during Euro 2020.

The 25-year-old has become a trusted lieutenant for Gareth Southgate in central midfield, starting all six of England’s matches on the route to Sunday’s final against Italy, while Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been used off the bench.

His impressive form has reignited speculation surrounding his future - with the Reds among the clubs to be linked after the departure of Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer.

But Phillips’ agent Kevin Sharps has warned potential suitors that his client will not seek a move this summer and remains happy at Leeds.

“Before Kalvin signed his last contract, we had good interest so we sat down and explored all the pros and cons,” Sharp told i.

“His desire was never to leave, it was to be rewarded and stay and play for the team he supported as a kid.

“Within the contract he signed in September 2019, we included provisions within it for if Leeds reached the Premier League, so it’s all set up for the top flight.

“We knew it was a bit of a gamble, but we knew Leeds would get there under (Marcelo) Bielsa and obviously they did.

“There may be clubs who are actually looking at Kalvin now because the more successful you are – playing for England in big tournaments – naturally breeds interest.

“But Kalvin is happy at Leeds and has no desire to move whatsoever. It’s more a case of ‘carry on what you’re doing for club and country’.”

Phillips is under contract at Leeds for another three years having put pen to paper on his current deal in 2019.

He made his England debut in a Nations League clash against Denmark in October and has gone on to earn 14 caps.
