Kalidou Koulibaly urged to snub Man United and join Liverpool to create 'world's best defence'

Kalidou Koulibaly has been urged to snub a transfer to Manchester United, and instead sign for Liverpool.

The Napoli centre-back has been tentatively linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, and could depart the Serie A club when the transfer window reopens.

It has been claimed that an asking price in the region of £62m has been set by Napoli for the 28-year-old.

The likes of Man United and Everton have also been credited with an interest in Koulibaly’s services, but Champions League football next term could be a deciding factor as to where he ends up.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf says Liverpool would be a better fit for Koulibaly than United.

Leboeuf also feels that Virgil van Dijk would be the perfect centre-back partner for Koulibaly, should he decide to sign for the Reds.

“I would never ask him to go to Manchester United for many reasons, because I want him to win some stuff and I think Manchester United is not the club that they used to be and are not ready to win stuff,’ Leboeuf told ESPN.

“I think Liverpool would be a good fit with [Virgil] van Dijk, that would be fantastic.

“Paris Saint-Germain as well with Marquinhos would be two great central defenders.

“I think Chelsea will need a player like that, I don’t know if Koulibaly would be interested, but even if they have two very good central defenders, Koulibaly I think belongs to another level and will fit very well.

“But definitely, I know he has a link with Liverpool, Van Dijk and Koulibaly at the back, my god, that’s going to be another Reds season I guess.

“Definitely with Van Dijk, when you’re a defender like Koulibaly, that would be the best central defence in the world.”
