Kalidou Koulibaly is Manchester United's 'No.1 transfer target' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have made Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly their 'No.1 transfer target this summer' but face paying a 'record fee' in order to sign him, according to reports.

After a brilliant start to life under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United ended the season disastrously after only managing to pick up two victories in their last 12 game in all competitions.

They also conceded 13 goals in their last six games with the state of the United defence once again coming into question.

United have been chasing a new centre-back for multiple transfer windows now, having been linked with the likes of Matthijs de Ligt of Ajax, Leicester's Harry Maguire and Atletico Madrid legend Diego Godin in the past.

One name that has continuously been touted however is Koulibaly, who has developed into one of the world's best defenders in Serie A.

The Mirror reports that 'United are desperate to strengthen their defence' and see Koulibaly as 'fitting the bill as a commanding and powerful centre half.'

Yet it's also claimed that it may 'take a record fee to lure him to Old Trafford' with the current record for a defender being the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk.

With the Senegalese defender's contract not expiring until 2023, Napoli are under no pressure to sell their prized asset.

Meanwhile, United have reportedly won the race to sign Norwegian youngster Isak Hansen-Aaroen.

The teenager currently plays for the Tromso's under-15 side but has earned rave reviews and spent time on trial at Everton, Liverpool and United.

Yet, according to iTromso, via The Mirror, the forward has chosen United as his preferred destination.

It's reported that United will spend '£90,000' on the 14-year-old but he won't move to Manchester until next year due to 'FIFA regulations on youth players moving overseas.'
