Kaleb Wesson withdraws name from NBA, will return for junior season

Ohio State’s big man will be back on the roster and ready to add to the excitement of the program in 2019-20 according to a release by Ohio State hoops Tuesday. He’ll also be reminded that he only has five fouls to use in a conservative fashion — or so we can hope.

Wesson announced adding his name to to the NBA process shortly after the season ended, went through at least one workout with a team, got the feedback he desired and has now chosen to be a part of things this upcoming season.

“I’m excited to return to The Ohio State University and continue my journey as part of Team #121,” said Wesson in a release on Twitter.

The news has to be a welcome one for Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann and staff. The Buckeyes were admittedly thin last year at the position because of the transfer of Micah Potter just as the season was about to get underway. Things only got worse when freshman Jaedon LeDee announced his transfer to TCU after the run in March was over.

The staff worked to add depth with the signing of 7-footer Ibrahima Diallo, but the prospect of losing Wesson earlier than expected was one that would have left OSU without a proven commodity down low.

With a highly rated four-man recruiting class to add to an emerging group of young talent to the news of Wesson’s return, Ohio State should now be set up for a pretty fun ride this upcoming season.
