
Yokozuna Kakuryu and sekiwake Tochinoshin kept their records perfect as the yokozuna cruised to an easy win against No. 3 maegashira Chiyotairyu (2-5) and the Georgian sekiwake forced out No.1 maegashira Kotoshogiku (2-5) of the ring on the seventh day of the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo on Saturday.
Mongolian yokozuna made quick work of Chiyotairyu in the final bout of the day, bulldozing his opponent out without much resistance.
Tochinoshin faced a strong initial charge from Kotoshogiku, but the sekiwake secured his opponent's belt and forced him over the bales.
Ozeki Goeido (4-3) avoided three straight losses as the ozeki pushed out No. 3 maegashira Tamawashi (3-4).
Another ozeki, Takayasu, also posted his fourth win as by pushing out No. 2 maegashira Daieisho (3-4).
No. 14 maegashira Enho, who trailed Kakuryu and Tochinoshin by one loss after the sixth day, suffered his second defeat of the tourney after going down to No. 15 maegashira Terutsuyoshi.
Takakeisho to return to ring
Meanwhile, ozeki Takakeisho, who dropped out of the tourney on Thursday because of a right knee injury suffered in his Wednesday bout against komusubi Mitakeumi, will return to the ring Sunday, his stable master Chiganoura said Saturday.
The newly promoted ozeki is slated to face komusubi Aoiyama in his return.
