Yokozuna Kakuryu and sekiwake Tochinoshin maintained clean slates on the sixth day of the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo on Friday.
Kakuryu slapped down No. 2 maegashira Daieisho (3-3) at the edge of the ring to narrowly retain his perfect record.
Georgian wrestler Tochinoshin, who's aiming to regain his ozeki status, pushed out 227-kilogram sekiwake Ichinojo (2-4) in a bout that lasted more than one minute.
Meanwhile, Takayasu and Goeido -- the tournament's two remaining ozeki after Takakeisho's withdrawal Thursday -- both lost and now have even 3-3 records.
Takayasu was pushed out by No. 3 maegashira Tamawashi (3-3), while Goeido was pulled down by No. 3 maegashira Chiyotairyu (2-4).
No. 14 maegashira Enho remained one win behind the tournament leaders by beating No. 12 maegashira Yago (3-3) with a twisting overarm throw, improving his record to 5-1. No. 8 maegashira Asanoyama (5-1) also remains in the mix, despite losing his first bout of the basho.
