Yokozuna Kakuryu and sekiwake Takakeisho kept their records spotless on the fourth day of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament on Wednesday at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
Kakuryu handily dealt with No. 2 maegashira Ichinojo (1-3), throwing the towering wrestler down to the dirt.
Takakeisho easily pushed No. 3 maegashira Tomokaze (2-2) out of the ring in a quick bout. Takakeisho, who was demoted to the rank of sekiwake from ozeki after sitting out the previous tourney in July, needs six more wins in this tourney to regain the rank.
Also remaining without a loss in the top makuuchi division is No. 8 maegashira Okinoumi, who threw down No. 8 maegashira Takarafuji (2-2).
The two ozeki in the tourney, who are both on kadoban status needing to secure at least eight wins to keep their rank, had mixed results.
Goeido (3-1) demonstrated his thrusting power, quickly pushing out No. 1 maegashira Hokutofuji (1-3). Tochinoshin, however, lost his bout against komusubi Abi by disqualification. Initially, the ozeki was declared the winner as Tochinoshin (1-3) managed to force down the powerful Abi (3-1). However, Tochinoshin had grabbed the topknot of Abi, so the decision was reversed.
Mighty mite No. 11 maegashira Enho suffered his first loss of the basho, as No. 12 maegashira Shohozan (2-2) finally forced Enho to the dirt in a lengthy bout of more than a minute.
