Yokozuna Kakuryu barely broke a sweat in keeping his record perfect at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka on Wednesday.
The tourney's lone yokozuna (4-0) has looked worthy of the highest rank through the first four days, and he made quick work of winless No. 2 maegashira Arawashi, sliding his opponent across the ring and over the bales just after the start-off.
Conversely, ozeki Goeido didn't look good at all, lasting barely a second against No. 1 maegashira Endo (3-1). The ozeki clumsily lost his footing at the jump-off and went down to his hands with his feet seemingly nailed to the surface for his second loss.
Ozeki Takayasu needed little time to even his record. He locked up with No. 1 maegashira Tamawashi (2-2) for an instant before using two tugs to send his opponent crashing down.
No. 3 maegashira Takakeisho (2-2) sent sekiwake Tochinoshin to his second loss of the tournament. Takakeisho nearly went to the surface at one point, losing his balance, but recovered enough to pull down the sekiwake while retreating along the bales.
Sekiwake Mitakeumi (3-1) dealt massive Mongolian komusubi Ichinojo his first lost of the basho. The two stood straight up after the tachiai, and Mitakeumi used one charge to drive Ichinojo back and over the bales.
Meanwhile, a group of four maegashira-ranked wrestlers stayed undefeated -- No. 4 Shohozan, No. 6 Kaisei, No. 14 Ikioi and No. 17 Aoiyama.
