Kaka's comments back up Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta's Mesut Ozil decision

For Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta the pressure is rapidly increasing.

Sunday evening's 1-0 defeat to Burnley at the Emirates Stadium inflicted a fourth successive home league defeat on the Gunners for the first time since 1959, as well as acting as a sixth defeat in their last eight Premier League matches.

The club has reached crisis point, with both Arteta and the players growing under increasing pressure from the supporters, who are desperate to see an upturn in both results and performances.

As well as struggling for wins, goals have also been a major issue for Arsenal of late. So far this season, they have scored just 10 goals in 12 Premier League outings, with only Burnley, who secured the win on Sunday night thanks to own-goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Sheffield United scoring fewer.

Mikel Arteta on Edu, Ozil in January and Xhaka's future

Last season, the goals were flowing from Aubameyang, who ended the season with 29 to his name in all competitions. This season, though, the former Borussia Dortmund star has been a shadow of his former self, scoring just four goals in all competitions so far.

Though Aubameyang has struggled to score this season, he has found service hard to come by, with Arsenal lacking creativity from the midfield. Throughout the summer, the club was heavily linked with a move for Lyon ace Houssem Aouar, though they prioritised a move for Thomas Partey instead.

Arsenal's lack of goal-threat and creativeness from the midfield has sparked calls from no shortage of supporters to bring Mesut Ozil back into the fold when he can be re-registered into the squad next month.

The former Real Madrid man has been frozen out by Arteta, not featuring since March. Though reports have often claimed that the pair do not see eye to eye, Arteta has always insisted that Ozil's omission from the squad is purely down to footballing reasons.

And Arteta's claim about Ozil's absence from the squad because of footballing reasons has now been backed up by former AC Milan sensation Kaka.

The Brazilian believes that classic No.10s and attacking-midfielders are a thing of the past, suggesting that box-to-box midfielders, something which Ozil, of course, is not, are what managers prefer nowadays.

"We do not have the classic No 10 anymore," Kaka told Sky Sports. "I have seen this change in the game.

"The situation is awkward because it is not that we do not have these players, it is just that other positions are viewed as more important.

"Instead, we have this 4-3-3 where the three players in midfield are box-to-box."

Earlier this week, Ozil's agent, Erkut Sogut, issued an update on the midfielder's future, revealing that a whole host of clubs are keeping a watchful eye on him ahead of the January transfer window opening in a couple of weeks time.

"Even one day is a long time in football, you never know," Sogut told Tuttomercatoweb.com. "Of course, there are many clubs interested in catching him.

"This has never changed but his willingness to honour his contract and play hasn't changed either.

"He's a man of his word, loyal, and loyalty is hard to find in these times."
