Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson slammed by Gillian McKeith and anti-vaxxers after festival dedication

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has angered anti-vaxxers and celeb nutritionist Gillan McKeith.

Ricky, lead singer of the Leeds band, has been described as being ‘paid to be a drug baron’ by Gillian - known for her work on Channel 4’s You Are What You Eat.

The spat comes after Ricky shouted out the names of coronavirus vaccinations - Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca - during their Isle of Wight Festival performance with the dedications being met by loud cheers.

The frontman, rather-knowingly then said: “Let’s hear it for the anti-vaxxers.” The crowd loudly booed this.

Posting footage of Ricky comments, one Twitter user described the band as a ‘cult’. Some told Ricky they no longer considered themselves Kaiser Chiefs fans and that the musician had actively caused unnecessary division.

In response to the backlash, Ricky said: “I thought that the virus was frightening, but the dedicated velocity of the ‘Vaccine Risk Aware’ community is swift, personal, harsh, expletive ridden and effective.

“They win fair and square. Twitter is yours.”

One person who had an issue with Ricky’s actions was Gillian McKeith.

Elsewhere, Kaiser Chiefs had to stop their big Yorkshire homecoming gig when someone in the audience suffered a medical emergency.

It happened during Ricky Wilson’s band’s headline performance at The Piece Hall in Halifax earlier this month.

Kaiser Chiefs dedicated the last two songs of their set to the emergency services. This was met by a loud round of applause from the thousands in the audience.
