Kairos Home Health launched creating 100 jobs

Two Scottish entrepreneurs are creating 100 jobs by launching a new service to match adults including dementia sufferers with carers who will live alongside them in their own home.

Gavin Stedman-Bryce and Louis Stedman-Bryce have launched Kairos Home Health aimed at offering an alternative to care homes for adults with health and social care needs, enabling people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Kairos Home Health will operate from offices in East Lothian and Glasgow and is now actively recruiting a team of carers.

Stedman-Bryce, who has worked in NHS public health commissioning and is behind the Pamoja consultancy for the not-for-profit sector, said: “There are around 40,000 older people living in residential care across Scotland right now, and many of these people may have ended up in care homes as their families weren’t aware of all the options available to them.

“Studies show that people are often happier and healthier if they can stay at home for longer.  Being cared for in familiar surroundings helps to alleviate stress and upheaval.  This is particularly true for those with dementia.”

Stedman-Bryce said the firm has been working on the recruitment process for carers for several months.

The launch of Kairos is being supported by a national TV advertising campaign which goes live today.
