The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) announced on Wednesday a plan to launch and support 60 dialogue projects in 15 Arab countries.
This plan falls within the Dialogue Program 2020, which is organized in cooperation with the Interreligious Platform for Dialogue and Cooperation (IPDC).
This year’s program focuses on promoting a culture of dialogue, citizenship, and coexistence in the region, strengthening communication between religions, leaders, policymakers, diverse religious institutions, governments, and international organizations, with the aim to confront the COVID-19 pandemic, combat hate speech at the local, national and regional levels, and promote social cohesion, common citizenship, and education.
In a statement, KAICIID Secretary General Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar emphasized the center’s endeavor to enable all individuals and religious and community institutions to apply the dialogue skills provided by the center during trainings, workshops, and online lessons in order to find sustainable, creative, and peaceful solutions to the current challenges.
This year’s program also targets religious institutions, civil society organizations, and active individuals within society, including women and young people.
KAICIID is an intergovernmental organization whose mandate is to promote the use of dialogue globally to prevent and resolve conflict and to enhance understanding and cooperation.
