Kai Kennedy set to leave Rangers as Bayern Munich and Manchester City are put on high alert

Rangers starlet Kai Kennedy could be set to leave Ibrox – but the club are still hopeful of striking a deal.

Record Sport revealed back in December the midfielder was on the radar of Bayern Munich and Manchester City and this latest development has put them on alert.

The teenager has made just one top-team appearance for the Ibrox club, in the William Hill Scottish Cup clash with Stranraer in January.

He appeared as a second-half substitute in that game and was expected to force his way into Steven Gerrard's plans for the new season.

But although Rangers are still trying to keep the 18-year-old, a source close to the player revealed to Record Sport talks have stalled over playing factors.

We told last year Rangers faced a tough task to hold on to the attacking midfielder with some of Europe’s biggest clubs interested in signing the diminutive talent, who burst on to the scene for a Rangers development side that won the Alkass Cup in Qatar in 2019.

Kennedy has just one year left on his current contract at Ibrox and will leave the club when that is up if he doesn't secure a move prior to that.

The Scotland youngster is highly-rated and Serie A outfit Roma have also previously expressed an interest in taking him to Italy after being impressed by him during the Alkass Cup.

He had been training with Gerrard’s first team during pre-season but may no longer be part of the squad going forward.
