Kai Kennedy holds fresh Rangers talks with contract U-turn on the cards at Ibrox

Rangers youngster Kai Kennedy could sign a new contract at the club after holding fresh talks with the club.

The talented teen appeared to be on his way out of Ibrox when his contract was up next summer and was sent on loan to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the summer.

A disagreement over playing time led to talks stalling earlier this year but Glasgow Live understands productive discussions are ongoing.

Kennedy has been courted by the likes of Manchester City, Roma and Bayern Munich after bursting onto the scene while playing for Rangers in the Alkass Cup in Qatar.

He made his debut for the first team as a second half substitute in the 2-0 win over Stranraer at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup last season.

The 18-year-old was then due to be included in the first team squad for pre-season but dropped back down to the reserves when his contract talks stalled.

But it now appears that a clear pathway has been shown to Kennedy and he could now sign a new deal to extend his stay at Ibrox.

Glasgow Live understands a deal isn't close but both parties are willing to sit down and hold further talks in the coming weeks and months.

Kennedy was praised by Steven Gerrard on a number of occasions last season and the Ibrox boss is believed to be a big fan of his talent.

He joined Inverness Caley Thistle on loan in October and has made five appearances for the club so far.
