Kai Havertz to make Chelsea demand as Frank Lampard discusses transfer speculation

Kai Havertz will ask Bayer Leverkusen chiefs to sanction his move to Chelsea once he returns to training.

The German star has long been linked with an exit from the Bundesliga outfit following a stellar showing this season.

A host of Premier League clubs have eyed his signature as well as Real Madrid but Chelsea have been the first to act.

Reports suggest that personal terms between the Blues and the player have been agreed with a transfer fee the only remaining sticking point.

And Bild understand that Havertz will ask Leverkusen on Thursday to finalise his sale to the west London club.

The 23-year-old has scored 17 times in all competitions for the Champions League hopefuls.

Although Havertz has openly said that playing for a club in Europe's top competition is not a must when he considers his next move.

The Blues have been quick to act in the transfer market having already raided the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig's Timo Werner.

The 30-goal striker will provide competition for current forwards Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.

Hakim Ziyech has also been added from Ajax after several quality seasons in the Dutch capital.

And Havertz could be the next man through the door with Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller admitting already that they would allow him to leave if the right deal could be struck.

"There is nothing specific, nothing to report. As of now, he is our player," he said earlier this month.

"We have our ideas, we know what he can do. I personally hope that he stays one more year. We have an agreement: if it works, he can go this summer."
