Kai Havertz to Chelsea transfer 'confirmed' as Leroy Sane drops big hint

Kai Havertz wants to join Chelsea - and according to Leroy Sane, the Bayer Leverkusen star may already be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Standard Sport understands that Havertz was ready to ask Leverkusen to let him join Frank Lampard's Blues in talks scheduled this week.

Havertz was due to hold talks with Leverkusen when they return for pre-season training, and reports in Germany suggested he would tell club chiefs he wants to leave.

Lampard is increasingly confident of landing Havertz, 21, and Chelsea are set to press ahead with a move to sign the midfielder when their Champions League qualification is secured.

The Blues hope to secure a deal worth around £70million - and former Manchester City star Sane, who has joined Bayern Munich, seemed to suggest that a deal may be done.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Sane told reporters: "It's good for Chelsea, that they signed two German top talents with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz this summer."

While there has been no official announcement as yet from either Chelsea or Leverkusen, it appears as though Havertz may indeed be closing in on a move to west London.
