Kai Havertz responds to transfer rumours amid Manchester United speculation

Kai Havertz, the Bayer Leverkusen forward, has suggested he could leave the Bundesliga club at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season at Leverkusen last year, averaging a goal every two games in the German top flight, and he has been a mainstay in the Germany squad for the past 12 months.

Havertz's emergence inevitably led to speculation linking him with Europe's biggest clubs, with United being one of them, and the youngster has now spoken about his future, insisting he is happy at Leverkusen for now but refusing to rule out a move away within the next 12 months.

"I think I’ve picked up enough international experience at Leverkusen,” Havertz told Spanish publication Marca.

“I know the rhythm of these international matches and I’m confident that I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany.

“For the moment, I want to have a good season. Afterwards, we’ll see.”
