Kai Havertz makes 'big season' promise in holiday post after Chelsea to Arsenal transfer

New Arsenal signing Kai Havertz has promised a big 2023/24 season after completing his summer transfer from London rivals Chelsea.

The Gunners announced that they had signed Havertz on Wednesday, with the German international signing a long-term deal with the north London outfit, becoming their first new arrival of the summer. The 24-year-old isn't the first player to swap Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium in recent times either.

Jorginho, Willian, David Luiz and Petr Cech have all made the same move over the last eight years, with Olivier Giroud making the move in the opposite direction back in 2018. Now, Havertz has sent a message to Arsenal supporters on social media promising that a big season is coming.

Writing on Twitter alongside a picture of him on holiday, he said: "Charging the batteries for a big season ahead!" Havertz's time with the Blues was rather inconsistent even though he netted the winner in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.

The former Bayer Leverkusen playmaker was often deployed as an out-and-out number nine for the west Londoners but Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hinted that he will be used in a deeper role with the Gunners. "Kai is a player of top quality", Arteta told the club's official website.

"He has great versatility and is an intelligent player. He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play.

“We welcome Kai and his family to Arsenal Football Club and we are all excited to start working with him when we start pre-season training soon.”

Who should Arsenal keep or sell this summer...?
