Kai Havertz has been reading tweets from Chelsea fans all summer before £90m transfer

Kai Havertz said he has been reading messages from Chelsea fans ahead of joining in a deal worth up to £90million.

The 21-year-old becomes Frank Lampard's sixth signing of the summer with Roman Abramovich shelling out north of £200m to revitalise the Blues squad.

Havertz, considered one of Europe's hottest properties, was signed a five-year contract after weeks of speculation.

And Chelsea's newest signing has a message of his new fanbase.

When asked if he had a message for the Chelsea fans he said: "Thank you very much, I'm glad to be here.

"I've read loads of messages from them, they write to my very often on my social media accounts. I saw them, and I can't wait to play in front of the fans.

"I'll try to do my best to make them proud."

He added: "Chelsea has always been a big club and I remember all the big players that have played for the club ... for me it's a very big step and I will try my best to help the team.

"It's a very big step for me; a new country, a new country. It might be difficult in the first few weeks, but I just want to play football and have fun with the boys.

"We want to win titles, here. I'll try my best so we can achieve these things.
