Kai Havertz delivers Chelsea statement to excite fans ahead of Champions League draw

Chelsea star Kai Havertz believes there are 'not many' more talented teams in Europe than the Blues.

Havertz started the Blues' draw with Krasnodar on Tuesday evening as Frank Lampard's men closed out their group stage campaign with a 1-1 home draw having already secured top spot in their group.

The German midfielder was the only player to keep his place from the win over Leeds United on the weekend as he continues to strengthen his fitness following time off due to self-isolation earlier in the season.

After the game, Havertz was asked by BT Sport just how good the current crop of Chelsea stars are and whether there is a better collection of talent across Europe.

"I think not many," he responded. "We have a lot of good players in our team but I think we all know that we have to improve a lot because we have new players, we have young players and the connection is getting better off the pitch and on the pitch.

"I think you see on the pitch today and on the weekend that it is getting better. We have a lot of good players."

Havertz was also asked about his fight for match fitness and the midfielder provided an encouraging update, as well as outlining his exciting relationship with boss Lampard.

"I am feeling very good," he added. "The start (of the season) was not my best but I am very thankful to be here and I give every day my best to try to help the team.

"And of course, I know that Frank Lampard is a big manager for me. I can learn from him. He is helping me day-by-day and I am very thankful for that.

"I have to keep working and to do my best.

"I think I am now 100% but the two weeks out and with nothing at home, it was difficult to come back. You lose your whole fitness almost but I think I am two and a half weeks back.

"I am feeling better day-by-day. I started some games and I am feeling good."
