Kai Havertz could be sold before Bayer Leverkusen 's Europa League decider with Rangers after manager Peter Bosz admitted a deal could be out of his control.
The German international is one of the hottest prospects in Europe and Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have all been linked with Havertz, with Leverkusen demanding a huge amount for the midfielder.
Rangers face the Bundesliga side in the second leg of the Last 16 tie in August at a venue yet to be determined.
Leverkusen chief executive and former Germany boss Rudi Voller insisted last week that Havertz would definitely still be at the club for the tie against Steven Gerrard 's men.
But with the Bundesliga league season ending this weekend, Bosz admits he can't give any guarantees about the 21-year-old's future.
He said: "I certainly don't have the impression that this will be his last game for the club.
"He is still under contract with us and I have to assume that he will be with us next season too.
"That will include the German Cup Final next month and the next Europa League game against Rangers in August.
"Of course, that's all dependent on nothing happening before then."
