Kai Havertz breaks silence on Chelsea recovery after testing positive for COVID-19

Kai Havertz has stated that he is focusing on his recovery so that he can get back to Chelsea action after testing positive for COVID-19.

The 21-year-old missed the Champions League clash with Rennes on Wednesday night and will not be available for today's Premier League match against Sheffield United.

The Germany international is self-isolating as he looks to recover, while Frank Lampard stated that the midfielder was showing symptoms.

"Kai's showed up in the Uefa testing on Monday, so we re-tested them yesterday and everyone else is negative in the squad, so that's a good sign," Lampard said on Friday.

Chelsea v Sheffield United: Frank Lampard press conference

"I've spoken to Kai a couple of times, he's very disappointed because he just wants to play. His symptoms escalated slightly today but he's fine, and just disappointed to be out.

"It's just one of those things, but hopefully the isolating will help."

And Havertz has posted an update on social media about his recovery.

Christian Pulisic is set to miss the game against the Blades today due to his hamstring injury picked up ahead of last weekend's win over Burnley.

The Blues are looking to keep their good run of form going, with this the last match before the international break.
