Kai Havertz will not leave Bayer Leverkusen before their Europa League season has ended - and there will be no discount in his price tag because of the effects of coronavirus.
That’s the firm word coming out of the German attacker’s club, with Rudi Voller dismissing any notion of a change of heart.
Leverkusen’s sporting director made it clear that none of the squad will be allowed to leave early, with Chelsea heavily linked for a move for Havertz and their other new signing from Germany, Timo Werner, opting to join the Stamford Bridge club now rather than play out the delayed Champions League with his former side, Leipzig.
“It is set in stone [that Havertz stays for the games]. There is no new stance,” Voller said.
If a transfer is to happen, it won’t be cheap.
The German outlet further report that there is still no offer for on the table for Havertz and Leverkusen have decided that €100 million is the minimum amount to discuss a deal.
“There will be no ‘corona bonus’,’’ Voller continued.
“Regardless of the player, this is a special transfer window.”
Leverkusen play Rangers in the Europa League on 6 August, leading 3-1 from the first leg in which Havertz scored.
They, along with Manchester United and Inter Milan, are favourites to win the competition.
