During the first day of the marathon, Kai reacted to people who believed the challenge could take a very long time. Some viewers suggested three days would already be a difficult target, while others thought the duo could spend months trying to finish.
Kai did not seem worried about those predictions. He said, “Three days? So y’all think it’s going to take three days? See, that’s what I like. I like that right there, bro. Because a lot of people think it’s going to take months, years. The whole time, they don’t understand, bro. Like, I’m a gamer, bro! And he (IShowSpeed) is a gamer, bro! So, when two gamers game, it’s over, bro! It’s over! I’ve got to see if Speed is ready. I don’t know if he is ready.”
His comment led to a mixed reaction on X. Some viewers felt Kai was being too confident, while others said the criticism was simply based on how difficult Minecraft Hardcore can be.
One X user, @Curothedirector, wrote, “Bro wants to grab all the ishowspeed’s viewers, but it ain’t gonna happen.”
Another user, @dottwt_, took a different view, writing, “Ion think they were hating. js bein realistic”
User @yesdeltaa also explained why the challenge could take longer than Kai expects, pointing to the amount of mining, luck and other work involved. The biggest risk is also clear: a bad run can force the players to start again.
