K.R. Meera’s novella 'Qabar' to be released in English this December

Celebrated Malayalam writer-journalist K.R. Meera's new novella will be published by Eka, an imprint of Westland, this December. Titled 'Qabar', the book is translated into English by Nisha Susan.

According to the publisher, 'Qabar' tells the truths about the intertwined histories of Hindus and Muslims as well as the chasms between men and women.

Commenting on the book acquisition, Ajitha G.S., Managing Editor- Westland, said in a statement, "The length of 'Qabar' belies the breadth of its ambition and the depth of its feeling—it is a novel for our desperate times. I’m thrilled to be publishing it, and just as excited that feminists and storytellers Meera and Nisha come together on this book. It’s a very special project for us."

Some of K.R. Meera's notable works include 'The Poison of Love', 'The Angel's Beauty Spots', 'Yellow Is The Colour Of Longing' among others. Recently she was conferred with the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for her book 'Aarachar', published in English as 'Hangwoman'.
