K.J. Wright says he is ahead of schedule in shoulder surgery recovery

On Thursday, Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright told Sports Radio 950 KJR that his recovery from his shoulder surgery earlier this offseason is progressing smoothly.

“Health is good,” Wright said. “I’m ahead of schedule of where I need to be and if there’s a football season I plan on being out there game one.”

General manager John Schneider publicly expressed his hope back in April that Wright would be back in time for the 2020 NFL season.

“K.J. just had surgery. He’s rehabbing from his surgery,” Schneider said then. “I’m not sure of the timeline on when he’s going to be back. Hopefully, he makes it back on time, and we’ll see how it goes. It’s just a weird offseason. I mean for everybody, but especially for guys that have had offseason surgery.”

Time will tell if Wright is 100% healthy for the upcoming season, but the news he is on the mend is encouraging for Seattle’s linebacking corps.
