Arsenal have received a blow in their hopes of landing Juventus defender Mirah Demiral, with the player suffering what is suspected to be a serious knee injury.
The 21-year-old was forced from the field in the 20th minute of Juventus' 2-1 win over Roma on Sunday after falling awkwardly on his knee. Demiral had opened the scoring for Maurizio Sarri's side in the early stages of the game.
The Turkish international has been heavily linked with a January move to the Premier League, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said to be among his admirers as he searches for defensive reinforcements during the window.
Leicester City have also shown interest in the defender, with reports suggesting that Brendan Rodgers' side has already had bids rejected by Juventus.
Following the match against Roma, Juve manager Maurizio Sarri gave a worrying update on the condition of Demiral.
"Demiral has a sprain and we won't know any more until tomorrow morning," he said.
"However, the sensation we have is that it might be a serious injury."
There is more bad news on the possible injury, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that the defender turned up to Juventus' training centre on crutches, with the club fearing that he has damaged his cruciate ligament.
Should this be the case, then it would serve as a major blow to the clubs hoping to take him off Juventus' hands this month.
Demiral will undergo tests at the club today, with news expected on his condition soon.
