Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain kicks a coach and an advertising hoarding during training

Gonzalo Higuain completely lost his cool during a Juventus training session ahead of their Champions League opener with Atletico Madrid .

The Argentine striker was involved in a piggy-in-the-middle style exercise which saw Higuain and two other teammates playing the role of defenders.

With the rest of the Juve team surrounding the trio in a circle, Higuain and co. then chased around attempting to regain the ball.

As they were being given the runaround, Higuain's patience eventually wore thin, as he kicked out at a coach watching on from the sides, before booting the pitchside advertising hoarding several times.

The 31-year-old had made a desperate lunge for the ball before stumbling out of the circle, and then launching a stray boot high into the knee of the Juve staff member, who limped away from the collision.

Higuain was then hauled back into the middle of the circle by a teammate trying to de-fuse the situation.

But the hot-headed attacker refused to continue defending in the exercise, and could be seen orchestrating with his fellow players.

The striker has developed a reputation for having a loose temper, and this is not the first incident of it's kind involving the frontman.

Back in January Higuain launched into an over-zealous tackle on his manager Gennaro Gattuso, which effectively signalled the end of his time at the San Siro.

During his subsequent loan spell at Chelsea , Higuain was embroiled in an altercation with David Luiz on the eve of their Europa League final clash with Arsenal .

That incident left former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri - who is now in charge at Juventus - raging.

How the Italian responds to this latest shown of indiscipline remains to be seen, with little over 24 hours between now and the clash with Atletico.

Higuain's Juventus teammates seemed to take the outburst in good spirit, laughing as he took out his frustrations.

He has started both of their Serie A matches so far this season, but Juve will need all players focused on the task in hand if they are to get a result at the Wanda Metropolitano.
