Juventus 'still interested' in deal for Manchester United's Paul Pogba

Juventus are still interested in signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United this month, according to reports.

MEN Sport understands United prioritised keeping Pogba over signing potential replacements such as Christian Eriksen and are unlikely to sell their star midfielder now that they cannot replace him.

But Italian media outlet Calciomercato claim that Juve want to pursue a deal for their former midfield star, who left the club in 2016 to return to United, where he emerged through the academy.

Pogba said he wanted a "new challenge" amid interest from the Old Lady as well as Real Madrid, but he has knuckled down and been praised by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer for his conduct amid the transfer speculation.

The transfer window is still open for club's around Europe, but with the deadline having passed for Premier League and Championship sides to bring players in, anybody departing United in the next fortnight or so will go unreplaced.

Elsewhere, it has been reported that Roma have held talks with United over the possible loan of Alexis Sanchez.

United had been keen to ship the Chilean out this summer given his poor form since signing for the club 18 months ago and The Telegraph report that the Reds could allow him to head to Serie A on a temporary basis.

Other outlets have reported that Roma will only secure a deal if part of Sanchez's wages are supplemented. The former Arsenal and Barcelona star is believed to earn around £400,000-per-week at Old Trafford and is the club's highest earner.
